David Hains, owner and breeder of three time Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) winner Kingston Town, has died at the age of 92. 

Found of Portland House Group, one of Australia's most successful private investment companies, Hains established Kingston Park Stud on the Mornington Peninsular in the early 1970. 

He bred and raced Kingstown Town (Bletchingly) who captured the Cox Plate in 1980, 1982 and 1982 and Hains also won the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) in 1990 with Kingston Rule (Secretariat), the 1984 Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) with Spirit Of Kingston (Bletchingly) and Rose Of Kingston, who won the 1981 VRC Oaks, was a multiple Group 1 winner for his owner.
